Numerical Atmosphere Modelling (NAM) Branch is well-equipped with about 1 Terra-Flop capacity Parallel Computing Facility (SPL Old Block). This facilitates and caters to the need of SPL scientists for research and development with various atmospheric and climate models.

In addition to computational facilities, NAM branch is also working on estimation of terrestrial CO2 emissions by setting up a few network stations for in-situ measurements.

Presently, an Open Path CO2/H2O Analyzer and Sonic Anemometer is installed and made operational at Kodaikanal Solar Observatory, Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Kodaikanal since September 2017, and a similar experimental setup is planned to be installed at Ponmudi.
